ABOUT

Kram (Spiderbait) – "Melbourne (Naarm) has produced so many great new writers and I would add Rhea to that list."
Steph Hughes (triple j) – "Such great shimmy pop with a trippy sprinkle. Melodies so big and true."
Dave Ruby Howe (triple j) – "Rhea's got a bottomless bag of hits. By now I'm fairly certain she's part of the Melbourne songwriting Illuminati (ft. other elites like Courtney Barnett, Caleb from Tiny Little Houses, Alex Lahey and more). 4 STARS."
Guido Farnell (The Music) – "Rhea comes off sounding a little like Kim Deal fronting Velvet Underground."

Led by the inimitable Rhea, Baby Blue blends 60s shimmer with modern bite—big feelings, catchy hooks, and a whole lotta love. Originally a solo project, the Melbourne-based act has evolved into a dynamic six-piece band weaving pop, rock, folk, and Americana into songs that hit both head and heart.

At the core of Baby Blue is Rhea’s unflinching emotional honesty. Their songwriting—equal parts vulnerable and defiant—draws from lived experience, including their journey with bipolar disorder, multiple hospitalizations, and the severance of the median nerve in their left hand. Despite immense challenges, Rhea found purpose and healing through music. They now also work in mental health, using their experiences to help break stigma and make others feel less alone.

Baby Blue’s 2024 debut album Of My Window captures this spirit of transformation and resilience. It’s a sweeping, tender collection that explores love, identity, and mental health with both lyrical intimacy and sonic ambition. The band features some of Melbourne’s finest talent: Jesse Williams (Leah Senior, Girlatones, Darren Hanlon, and Simon Joyner’s so-called Australian band The Eucalypts) on lead guitar and recording, Nathanael Riley (19th Century Strongmen, Tim Guy) on drums, Claire Spooner (Claire M. Spooner, Duncan Graham & The Way In) on bass, Lochlan Funston (808s and Greatest Hits, Sunbeam Sound Machine) on percussion, and Marlee Jane Dalton (Mature Themes) on keys. Together, they craft an electric, heartfelt sound that expands Rhea’s songs into something greater than the sum of its parts.

Live, Baby Blue is a force—raw, radiant, and emotionally resonant. With album #2 in the works, the band is only getting started. Whether on stage or on record, Baby Blue is here to connect, uplift, and remind you you’re not alone.
